Northrop Grumman Nears Deal to Buy Orbital ATK -- Sources

Northrop Grumman Corp. is nearing a purchase of Orbital ATK
Inc., a deal that could be worth upward of $7.5 billion, according
to people familiar with the matter.
A deal between the two defense contractors could be announced as
soon as Monday, the people said. Northrop has a market value of
more than $45 billion. Orbital has a market value of $6.3 billion.
Terms of the transaction couldn't be learned, but with a typical
takeover premium, it could value the smaller company at upward of
$7.5 billion.
An an nounced union of the companies would come on the heels of
a giant aerospace deal just announced earlier this month, when
United Technologies Corp. agreed to buy Rockwell Collins Inc. for
more than $20 billion.
