Marshall Field's Announces Community Grants at Month of Giving
Celebration Local Stores Name Nonprofit Grant Recipients During
Reception at The Henry Ford DETROIT, July 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/

announced $50,000 worth of grants to 23 local nonprofit
organizations in the areas of education, the arts, and health and
welfare. Representatives from these organizations celebrated during
Marshall Field's Second Mondays at The Henry Ford to commemorate
the first-ever Marshall Field's Gives Month with a Summer
Celebration in the Greenfield Village. "We're very excited to be
able to provide this kind of support to our communities," said Hank
Lorant, regional vice president of stores, Marshall Field's.
"Marshall Field's Gives Month showcases our community partners and
highlights all they do to improve the places where we live and
work. The fact that our local stores made the grant-making
decisions for their communities makes it even more rewarding."
Marshall Field's Gives Month celebrates the wonderful things local
nonprofits bring to the area and encouraging guests and team
members to support these great causes. Marshall Field's is proud to
partner with numerous local organizations to offer enhanced
programming, unique events and various discounts in an effort to
encourage community support of arts and culture, education and
health and welfare. Marshall Field's Gives supports local
organizations and community programs such as the first-ever
sponsorship of the Detroit Public Library Summer Reading Program
and an exclusive partnership to present discounted admissions and
enhanced educational programming during Marshall Field's Second
Mondays at The Henry Ford. In addition, the company continues to
sponsor the Detroit Festival of the Arts, Free First Fridays at the
Detroit Institute of Art and Marshall Field's Day of Music on Sept.
30 in conjunction with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Through
Marshall Field's Gives, the company also features year-round giving
initiatives such as a longstanding partnership with the United Way;
grants to individual nonprofit organizations; event and program
sponsorships; and Field's Go Read(SM) -- an educational program
that seeks to help kids from preschool through third grade become
skillful readers and encourages them to get excited about reading.
As part of The May Department Stores Company, Marshall Field's team
member charitable contributions are matched, dollar for dollar, to
eligible nonprofit organizations. Other Marshall Field's Gives
Month highlights include: Special GiftCard Program Throughout July,
Marshall Field's will offer guests the opportunity to make a
donation of $5 or more to support early childhood learning programs
through their local United Way when they purchase a Marshall
Field's GiftCard. Marshall Field's will match up to $100,000 of
guest donations to benefit Born Learning, a United Way partnership
to improve early childhood learning. Marshall Field's Days of
Caring Marshall Field's has designated July 22-29 as Marshall
Field's Days of Caring, when team members will volunteer their time
to make a difference throughout the communities in which they live.
