Johnson & Johnson said the European Commission has approved an advance purchase agreement for 200 million doses of its Covid-19 vaccine candidate following authorization from regulators.

European Union member states will also have the option to get up to 200 million additional doses, J&J said Thursday.

The company said it has also allocated up to 500 million doses toward international efforts to ensure access to lower income countries, with delivery beginning in mid-2021 after regulatory approval.
