Jacobs Wins Inaugural ‘Engaging Youth in Information Technology’ Award

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) announced today that it
was selected to receive the first-ever Engaging Youth in IT Award
from the CIO Executive Council in partnership with
Computerworld.
The award was established to showcase outstanding initiatives
that educate and interest young people in IT careers. Jacobs was
chosen by a panel of expert judges comprised of chief information
officers from companies worldwide. In reaching their decision, the
panel noted Jacobs’ multiple, interacting approaches to interest
young people in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)
careers.
In making the announcement, Jacobs CEO Craig Martin stated, “We
are delighted to be recognized with this award, and to reinforce
our commitment to initiatives that interest youth in STEM careers.
Our programs demonstrate innovative ways that companies can reach
and engage youth, benefit the community, and contribute to a
healthy pipeline of future professionals in our industry.”

Carmody is the founder of Technology Goddesses, a program that
partners with the Girl Scouts of the USA to provide educational
workshops and career opportunities for girls interested in
technology. Many participants from that program have gone on to
pursue degrees in the field, and a number of them are currently
working as IT professionals at Jacobs. Other related Jacobs
initiatives cited by the judges include internships,
apprenticeships, and Jacobs’ STEM Ambassadors.
