PASADENA, Calif., Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group
Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that a subsidiary company received
an award from Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) to provide
on-site construction administration and inspection services for the
build and replacement of transmission lines, substations and
ancillary communications projects.
In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President
Tom McDuffie stated, "We are proud
to help support BPA on this high-profile program. This is a
critical initiative that will support the cost-effective
development of high-voltage transmission infrastructure in the
Pacific Northwest."
BPA is a federal agency headquartered in Portland, Oregon that markets wholesale
electricity and transmission services to Pacific Northwest public
and private utilities, and to some direct service industries.
BPA provides about one-third of the electricity used in the
Northwest and operates about three-fourths of the region's
high-voltage transmission. BPA owns and maintains more than
15,000 miles of transmission lines and 300 substations. The
overall program is budgeted at $6
billion.
