Gouda, the Netherlands - Royal Imtech N.V. (IM-AE, technical services provider in and outside Europe) announces that it has received new orders worth 37 million euro for the high-tech sustainable technical infrastructure in both the multi-purpose project 'Elbarkaden' in Hamburg, including the new head office of Greenpeace, and the new 'Main Gate Porta' office development in the center of Frankfurt / Main. The building in Hamburg received a Gold pre-certification in accordance with German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) standards. The office development in Frankfurt undercuts the German Energy Savings Regulation (EnEV) by 25 percent.

René van der Bruggen, CEO Imtech: 'Imtech is the market leader in technical energy efficiency solutions in Germany and Eastern Europe. The majority of all ongoing orders include energy-efficiency and/or energy management components. After huge sustainable projects like the green revitalization of the head office of the Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt or the sustainable head office project of Spiegel Publishers in Hamburg, these two projects are other good examples of our technical sustainable capabilities. The sustainable challenges in these projects are on the edge of what is technical possible.'

Two innovative energy efficiency examples
The multidisciplinary project 'Elbarkaden' in the center of the HafenCity development in Hamburg has a surface of over 23.500 m². Beside home of the new Greenpeace head office, the sustainable building offers space for others offices, retail, culture and gastronomy, as well as apartments. The new 'Main Gate Porta' office building consists of a 19-story high-rise (height 70 meter) and a 7-storey perimeter block. The new sustainable building with an area of about 20,000 m² is the first of the new Main Gate business district development in the eastern part of the old town of Frankfurt / Main. Both developments are innovative energy efficiency examples.

Innovative energy efficiency solutions
The certification system of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) covers over 50 criteria from areas like ecology, economy and technology and processes. The DGNB Gold certificate is awarded if all these aspects are fulfilled to an outstanding standard. In the 'Elbarkaden' development in Hamburg Imtech is commissioned to realize the entire energy and technology concept based on Imtech's own Active Building® concept. The goal of this energy concept is to emit just 34 grams of carbon dioxide per generated kilowatt hour. Therefore, the primary energy requirements will lie significantly below the level of 100 kWh per square meter per year. To make this possible a large number of innovations are implemented, such as: high energy heat recovery, waste heat usage, cold recovery, thermal storage, special pumping technology, use of renewable energy (photovoltaics, wind power systems on the roof, geothermal systems, solar power and biomass) and use of low-emission materials. Smart building automation makes an integrated energy approach possible. Water is used as a resource by use of rain water, water-saving equipment and fittings and more. Over the course of the year, the property will generate around one third surplus energy, which can be fed into the grid.

In the 'Main Gate Porta' office development in Frankfurt Imtech is responsible for the complete sustainable technical infrastructure, including hidden heating, ventilation and air conditioning solutions in high-tech ceilings with energy-efficient integrated heating and cooling systems. Beside this, Imtech is taking care of all electrical solutions, all water and LED lighting solutions, and the complete security and fire safety. An innovative building management system manages all the mechanical processes, substantially increasing the building's energy efficiency and resulting in an exemplary low carbon footprint. Besides the complex technology infrastructure individual temperature control can be adjusted in each office and all windows can be opened allowing fresh air to come in. This creates an AAA class working environment.
