Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM), the world's largest technology
distributor and supply-chain services provider, today launched its
Smart Steward recycling program, providing a convenient avenue for
the environmentally friendly disposal of small electronics and
printer supplies. This new program is another way Ingram Micro is
able to offer its resellers incremental revenue.
North American resellers can now utilize the company's Smart
Steward website, www.ingrammicro.com/smartsteward, to arrange for
the recycling of toner and ink cartridges and small electronic
devices such as mobile phones, for which Ingram Micro provides a
trade-in payment. Through the website, the reseller can also
request shipping materials for the safe return of the recyclables.
Resellers are able to set up accounts for their own business and
those of their customers. If a cartridge cannot be reused, it is
recycled into other products.
"Our company is dedicated to helping our business partners excel
in a way that is responsible to our communities," said Keith
Bradley, senior executive vice president and president, North
America. "Through the Smart Steward program, we provide an
efficient recycling program that offers our customers an additional
revenue stream to help them increase profitability. They reduce
landfill waste and receive payment for their efforts, while Ingram
Micro contributes to a greener planet and strengthens our customer
relationships."
Ingram Micro launched its Smart Citizen global corporate social
responsibility program last year. Since then, it has received ISO
14001 certification for its environmental systems in North America
and disclosed sustainability activities on a dedicated website,
www.ingrammicro.com/smartcitizen. The company works closely with
its business partners to contribute to a socially responsible
supply chain throughout the world.
