DIRECTV Releases First Public Corporate
Social Responsibility Report
DIRECTV, one of the world's leading providers of digital
television entertainment services, was recognized today as one of
America’s most community-minded companies in The Civic 50, an
annual scorecard published by Bloomberg that identifies and
recognizes companies for their commitment to improve the quality of
life in the communities where they do business.
Concurrently, DIRECTV’s latest corporate social responsibility
report, highlighting its Corporate Citizenship, Sustainability and
employee initiatives across the Americas, is now public for the
first time and is available at www.directv.com/responsibility.
"In recent years, we’ve made significant strides in our
corporate social responsibility efforts by focusing on how we can
positively impact important social issues and be responsible
stewards of the environment in both the U.S. and Latin America,"
said Mike White, DIRECTV chairman, president and CEO. "We’re truly
honored to be selected for The Civic 50 list and I am incredibly
proud of what our organization has accomplished as we strive to
ensure DIRECTV is making a difference in the communities where we
conduct business.”
“The results of this year’s Civic 50 survey show that even the
most civically engaged companies are doing more to make community
engagement a top priority and a permanent aspect of their business
strategy,” said Michael Weiser, chairman of the Board, National
Conference on Citizenship and Neil Bush, chairman of the Board,
Points of Light, in a joint statement. “These 50 companies are
showing others in the private sector how to boost the bottom line
and make the world a better place.”
The Civic 50 survey was conducted by the National Conference on
Citizenship (NCoC) and Points of Light, the nation’s definitive
experts on civic engagement, and published by Bloomberg News. To
