CHARLOTTE, Mich., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- A recent Fire Truck Training Conference hosted by Spartan Chassis, Inc., a subsidiary of Spartan Motors, Inc. (NASDAQ:SPAR), attracted 199 fire truck service personnel of all levels of expertise from across the United States, Canada and the Middle East, for rigorous service training on the company's products and services. Attendance for the event, which was held in Lansing, Michigan, August 2-6, increased significantly over previous years. As more communities face increasingly stringent budget limitations, Spartan Chassis anticipates growth in the number of departments that will begin performing their own inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs. "Departments are recognizing the value of holding down the cost of repairs and increasing the safety of their fire trucks," said John Sztykiel, president and CEO of Spartan Motors. Whether an old or new model, our trucks are truly complex machines that we build to each customer's specifications. We offer the formal training needed by technicians to maintain and service Spartan Chassis products to help keep them operational at all times." Spartan's 15th annual training conference provided attendees with a comprehensive understanding and hands-on demonstrations of apparatus components and systems ranging from engines and electrical systems to brakes and safety systems. Several of the 37 courses offered during the event provided preparation for Emergency Vehicle Training (EVT) certification and re-certification exams were held during the week. The 16th Annual Spartan Chassis Fire Truck Training Conference will be held August 8-12, 2010 at the Lansing Center in Lansing, Michigan. Additional conference information and registration will be available online at spartanchassis.com in early 2010. About Spartan Chassis, Inc.
