XTS Telecom's new high-speed network is based on WiMAX wireless access technology and will support advanced broadband services. The services will be available across the French islands of Reunion, Martinique, and Guadeloupe where XTS plans to use the Redback SmartEdge Service Gateway systems' carrier class Ethernet capabilities to connect to the WiMAX base stations. To enable XTS Telecom to offer highly personalized services including VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), the SmartEdge Service Gateway integrates the functions of subscriber management, carrier class Ethernet aggregation and edge routing.
