Derek Morkel, Jay Hornung and Dolores Horvath Join MedCath

CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MedCath
Corporation (NASDAQ:MDTH) announced the following additions to its
senior management team: Derek Morkel, 39, has joined MedCath as
Senior Vice President, Operations. Mr. Morkel will lead MedCath's
Hospital Division's managed care contracting, purchasing and
revenue cycle initiatives. Prior to joining MedCath, Mr. Morkel
served as Chief Executive Officer for H2i, Inc., a company that he
founded that provided business intelligence, technology and
staffing solutions to the healthcare industry. Mr. Morkel also
served as Operations Chief Financial Officer for IASIS Healthcare
Corp, where he was responsible for all financial operations for
IASIS's 15 hospitals. Jay Hornung, 37, has joined MedCath as Vice
President, Construction and Design. Mr. Hornung will oversee
MedCath's development and construction of new facilities as well as
its expansion of existing hospitals. Prior to joining MedCath, Mr.
Hornung served as Assistant Vice President, Construction and
Facilities for Universal Health Services, Inc. At Universal Health
Services, Inc., Mr. Hornung was responsible for overseeing the
development and construction of acute care and behavioral health
facility projects. Dolores Horvath, 58, has joined MedCath as
Regional Vice President, Operations. Ms. Horvath will oversee
MedCath's hospitals located in the western United States as well as
MedCath's joint ventures with community hospitals, including its
relationships with Benefis Healthcare, Great Falls, Montana, and
The Methodist Medical Center of Illinois, Peoria, Illinois. Prior
to joining MedCath, Ms. Horvath served as Interim Chief Executive
Officer, Maryvale Hospital, Phoenix, Arizona. Ms. Horvath also
served as President of IASIS Healthcare's Arizona market, where she
had responsibilities for overseeing three hospitals, and as Chief
Executive Officer for St. Luke's Medical Center, Phoenix, Arizona.
She has also served as Vice President Operations and Chief Nurse
Executive at other healthcare facilities. "I am pleased to welcome
