Hyperion (Nasdaq:HYSL), the global leader in Business Performance Management software, today announced that Activision Publishing, Inc., a leading worldwide publisher and distributor of interactive entertainment and leisure products, has selected Hyperion Planning and the Hyperion Business Intelligence Platform to unify its enterprise and financial data for planning, analysis and reporting. With game producing operations around the world, Activision needed to be able to align goals and activities across its global enterprise. Toward that end, seventy-five users in cross-functional groups at the company will use Hyperion Planning to improve its revenue and expense planning across departments on both a yearly and an ad hoc basis. The new, automated solution will leverage the centralized Web-based infrastructure to track and monitor business plans and forecasts, and increase end-user participation with frequent, real-time updates. The Hyperion Business Intelligence Platform will also be deployed across the organization and used by 100 members of the sales, business analysis and executive management teams to perform analysis by video game title, customer and distribution channel, and video game platform. Subsequent phases of the implementation are planned to add relational reporting from the company's Oracle data warehouse as well as additional subject-specific OLAP data. "We look forward to the integration between enterprise-wide planning and robust analysis that the Hyperion Business Performance Management software delivers," said Niel Armstrong, vice president of information technology at Activision. "The linking of reports via graphical interactive dashboards and the direct connection with Hyperion Business Intelligence platform using Excel will be a real advantage in standardizing and simplifying the reporting procedure." Hyperion partner Answerthink (NASDAQ:ANSR) played a key role in helping Activision select the Hyperion solution and will act as the implementation partner on the project.
