/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CO2 Solution Inc. is pleased to announce
that its President and CEO, Glenn Kelly, participated in the
first-ever meeting of the newly-formed Federal BioCaucus Committee
on Parliament Hill. CO2 Solution was honored to be one of only two
companies invited to present to parliamentary Members of The
BioCaucus. "It was an excellent opportunity to present to the
first-ever meeting of the Federal BioCaucus," said Kelly. "I was
able to share with Members of Parliament information about CO2
Solution, its innovative made-in-Canada biomimetic carbon capture
technology and its immense environmental and economic benefits."
The BioCaucus Committee was formed to promote new economic
opportunities and benefits of biotechnology in Canada, with its
Members including the Hon. Tony Clement and Rick Dykstra MP St.
Catharines. "Biotechnology companies are emerging as engines of
growth from coast-to-coast and the founding membership of the
BioCaucus is a reflection of that. Biotechnology is the future of
new jobs in clean energy, agriculture, food sciences, and
medicine," said Dykstra. "We now hope to become the focal point for
biotechnology on Parliament Hill and about how we take Canada to
the next stage of the knowledge economy." The committee will focus
on promoting the health, social and environmental benefits of
biotechnology for Canadians. It will also advocate for the
development of Canadian-based research and educational facilities
to attract new investment to become a leader in the development of
new biotechnologies. The formation of the BioCaucus Committee,
noted Kelly, is a clear indication that the Government of Canada is
forward-thinking in its approach to economic recovery and long-term
environmental sustainability. "The introduction of the BioCaucus
Committee is very encouraging," said Kelly. "CO2 Solution looks
forward to continuing to work with this committee and the Federal
Government to bring bio-technological climate change solutions to
the forefront of Canada's economy." About CO2 Solution Inc.
Headquartered in Quebec City, CO2 Solution Inc. has developed a
proprietary bio-technological platform for the efficient capture of
carbon dioxide (CO2), the most important greenhouse gas (GHG), from
power plants and other large stationary sources of emissions. The
Company's technology platform exploits the natural power of a
biocatalyst (enzyme), carbonic anhydrase, which functions within
humans and other mammals to manage CO2 during respiration. CO2
Solution has successfully adapted the enzyme to function within an
industrial environment, and thus has taken advantage of a
biomimetic approach to CO2 capture based on millions of years of
evolution. The Company is commercializing its technology for coal
fired power generation, the oil sands and other CO2-intensive
industries where a low-cost capture solution is key to meeting
climate change legislation in a cost effective manner. CO2
Solution's technology platform is protected by several North
American and European patents, including the use of carbonic
anhydrase for CO2 capture and release in a packed column system.
