outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The
information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining
sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
ConocoPhillips's (COP) completed turnaround maintenance at its
Ponca City, Okla., refinery, the company said on Nov. 21. Details
about the duration and specific units involved weren't specified in
early October when ConocoPhillips confirmed the turnaround; traders
doing business in the Midwest spot markets had said the plant's
crude distillation unit was among the units slated for maintenance
during the turnaround.
Irving Oil's turnaround maintenance that began in early Sept. at
its Saint John, Canada, refinery in on track to end by the end of
Nov., the company said on Nov. 21.
Western Refining Inc. (WNR) shut a diesel hyrdrotreater unit at
its refinery in El Paso, Texas, on Nov. 20, according to a filing
to Texas state environmental regulators. The unit will be brought
back into service after work to replace the valve is completed, the
filing added.
Sunoco Inc. shut a hydrotreater unit in the Point Breeze portion
of its Philadelphia refinery on Nov. 15 due to a mechanical
problem, a filing to Philadelphia regulators said.
Chevron Corp. will be unable to restart a malfunctioning FCCU at
its El Segundo refinery until early December, sources familiar with
the refinery said on Nov. 18. The unit was shut in late-Oct. for
what was expected to be four weeks of planned maintenance.
