The following table lists unplanned and planned production outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.

Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) on Oct. 21 said previously announced turnaround maintenance at a crude distillation unit and a coker unit has begun at its oil refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas. The turnaround is expected to conclude in three weeks.

Tesoro Corp. (TSO) on Oct. 20 said the process of shutting down unspecified process units slated for planned, regularly-scheduled maintenance at its Wilmington, Calif., refinery would begin on Oct. 21. Those units are expected to restart on Oct. 27. Flaring may occur. Trade sources said the work is being performed at a crude distillation unit and coker unit.

Tesoro Corp. on Oct. 20 said key gasoline-making equipment and several associated process units at its oil refinery in Anacortes, Wash., would return to service by the end of October following planned maintenance. The units were taken out of service starting on Oct. 1.

Valero Energy Corp. on Oct. 20 said emissions reported to Texas State environmental regulators the day before were associated with the end of some of the turnaround maintenance underway since late Sept. at its oil refinery in Three Rivers, Texas. Turnaround continues at parts of the plant; restart seen in early Nov.

Valero Energy Corp.'s Houston refinery experienced an electrical outage on Oct. 19; plant production rates of affected process equipment were immediately reduced, the co. said in a filing to Texas state environmental regulators. The refinery was returning to planned rate on Oct. 19 with the outage "not expected to have a material impact on production," Valero spokesman Bill Day said.

ConocoPhillips (COP) said units upset by a transformer fire on Oct. 18 at its oil refinery in Sweeny, Texas, were in the process of restarting soon after the fire was extinguished, a report to the National Response Center, or NRC, said. The units weren't identified and no further details were provided.

ConocoPhillips on Oct. 18 is in the process of restarting a production unit at its oil refinery in Wilmington, California, according to traders doing business in the region. The unit has been identified by trade sources as a hydrotreating unit that was shut on Oct. 10 by a small fire.

Sunoco Inc. (SUN) recently restarted a key gasoline and diesel fuel-making unit at its oil refinery in Marcus Hook, Pa., traders doing business in the region said on Oct. 18. The unit was taken out of service a week ago due to a mechanical problem according to a filing to Pa. state environmental regulators. A crude unit and a reformer unit at the 178,000-barrel-a-day refinery, shut on Oct. 3 for two weeks of work, are expected to restart on Oct. 19. according to trade sources.

Suncor Energy Inc.'s (SU) oil refinery in Edmonton, Alberta, will be operating at reduced rates over the next two weeks due to a disruption in hydrogen supplies, a company spokeswoman said on Oct. 11. The disruption in hydrogen supplies occurred at a third-party supplier which told Suncor it would be unable to supply hydrogen over the next two weeks.
