ConocoPhillips (COP) on Oct. 18 is in the process of restarting a production unit at its oil refinery in Wilmington, California, according to traders doing business in the region. The unit has been identified by trade sources as a hydrotreating unit that was shut on Oct. 10 by a small fire.

Sunoco Inc. (SUN) recently restarted a key gasoline and diesel fuel-making unit at its oil refinery in Marcus Hook, Pa., traders doing business in the region said on Oct. 18. The unit was taken out of service a week ago due to a mechanical problem according to a filing to Pa. state environmental regulators. A crude unit and a reformer unit at the 178,000-barrel-a-day refinery, shut on Oct. 3 for two weeks of work, are expected to restart on Oct. 19. according to trade sources.

Pasadena Refining Systems Inc. on Oct. 14 said repairs to the crude unit shut be a fire on Sept. 30 are under way and that production at the refinery will resume in early November.

Suncor Energy Inc.'s (SU) oil refinery in Edmonton, Alberta, will be operating at reduced rates over the next two weeks due to a disruption in hydrogen supplies, a company spokeswoman said on Oct. 11. The disruption in hydrogen supplies occurred at a third-party supplier which told Suncor it would be unable to supply hydrogen over the next two weeks.

Turnaround maintenance is under way at ConocoPhillips' (COP) oil refinery in Ponca City, Okla., company spokesman Rich Johnson said on Oct. 6. While he was not able to provide details about the duration and specific units involved, a local news report referred to the work as ConocoPhillips' biggest turnaround in the company's history.

BP PLC's (BP, BP.LN) oil refinery in Ferndale, Wash., on Oct. 7 was added to the list of area-refineries performing maintenance. Work started on Oct. 3. A hydrocracker, two delayed coking units, two reformer units are among several units slated for maintenance. A person familiar with operations at the refinery said catalyst regeneration will also take place.
