About 90,000 girls shirts and dresses sold through a number of
major department stores are being recalled because jewelry and
decorative trim attached to the garments have high lead levels,
according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The garments, made in Vietnam and distributed by My Michelle of
New York, all have a black tag on the collar with pink print that
reads "mymichelle." The recall involves sizes ranging from small to
extra large and 7 to 16, CSPC said.
The tops and dresses were sold at retailers including Burlington
Coat Factory, Dillard's Inc. (DDS), Kohl's Corp. (KSS), J.C. Penney
Co. (JCP), Army & Air Force Exchange and K&G Fashion
Superstore from January through March. They were priced at about
$38, CSPC said.
Lead is toxic if injested by young children and the garments
should immediately be taken away from them, the CPSC said. No
incidents or injuries have been reported, according to CPSC.
