The leading West Coast affordable housing developer was ranked #26 in the nation in Affordable Housing Finance’s “Top 50 Affordable Housing Developers of 2023”.

EAH Housing, one of the largest and most respected nonprofit housing development and management organizations in the Western United States, has been named the country’s third top nonprofit affordable housing developer in Affordable Housing Finance’s “Top 50 Affordable Housing Developers of 2023”.

The esteemed list compiles and ranks firms annually based on the number of new affordable housing units they started construction on within the last 12 months. The 2023 installment reflects EAH Housing’s start of development on 683 affordable housing units and completion of 164 units, which earned the organization the #26 spot in overall affordable housing developers.

"Being ranked among the top affordable housing developers in the nation is no small feat,” said Laura Hall, CEO of EAH Housing. “This acknowledgment places us in the company of the best in the industry and highlights our commitment to excellence. Our inclusion in this list underscores our dedication to providing quality, affordable housing to those most in need. It is a testament to our hard work, innovative solutions, and unwavering mission to make a difference in the communities we serve."

In 2023, EAH Housing announced the groundbreaking of the permanent veterans housing community Lightfighter Village in Marina, Calif., and the first of the two-phase affordable housing project Nevin Plaza in Richmond, Calif. EAH Housing also marked the grand re-opening of Centertown Apartments, an affordable multifamily rental property in San Rafael, Calif. During the first half of 2024, EAH Housing celebrated the grand opening of Avena Bella II, the second and final phase of the previously constructed Avena Bella in Turlock, Calif.; Archway Commons II, the second and final phase of the previously built affordable housing community Archway Commons in Modesto, Calif.; and the permanent supportive housing community Pointe On La Brea in Los Angeles.

Founded nearly 60 years ago, EAH Housing has been steadfast in its efforts to address the affordable housing crisis throughout California and Hawai’i, two of the country’s most nuanced markets. It serves over 25,000 low-income individuals and families across more than 240 communities. Always looking for ways to boost efficiency while increasing overall supply, EAH Housing is set to deliver more units over the next five years than in the last 25. In fact, by 2028, the firm expects to increase the number of people housed to 30,000.
