WASHINGTON, June 25, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- In recent decades, our national discourse on education rights and meritocracy has been narrowly focused on the myopic lens of racial diversity and equity. Unfortunately, this approach often leads to the unconstitutional practice of using race or race proxies in admissions of colleges or elite high schools.

However, positive change is on the horizon. On June 29, 2024, Asian American Coalition for Education (AACE) is going to host the Second National Conference on Equal Education Rights, in Washington, DC

This conference will delve into the following key areas:

  • Impact and implementation of SCOTUS' rulings on SFFA v. Harvard/UNC cases
  • The effectiveness and proper role of standardized testing in college admissions
  • K-12 Education: Meritocracy and improving underperforming minorities.

Led by keynote speakers Patrick Strawbridge (SFFA lead lawyer) and Gail Heriot (U.S. Civil Rights Commissioner), distinguished scholars and leaders will first discuss the impact of the Supreme Court's historic rulings in the SFFA v. Harvard/UNC cases.

Following that, our panelists will explore strategies to effectively address the root causes of the lack of diversity on college campuses: failing K-12 education in American inner cities.

Additionally, distinguished speakers like Julia Phillips (National Science Foundation Board Member), Mike Gonzales (Heritage Foundation Senior Fellow), and Jonathan Wai (University of Arkansas Education Policy Chair) will explore meritocracy within the context of global technology competition and America's STEM talent shortage. Lessons from China's decision to abolish its meritocratic college entrance exam during the Cultural Revolution will also be discussed.

The conference features an impressive lineup, including Congresswoman Michelle Steel, Pacific Legal Foundation attorney Erin Wilcox , UCLA Professor Dr. Richard Sander, AACE President Yukong Zhao, AALF Secretary Lee Cheng, TakeCharge President Kendall Qualls, BPCAE President Bentao Cui, and others.

Time: 9: 00 AM-4:30 PM, June 29, 2024
Location: Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill
400 New Jersey Avenue Northwest, Washington, D.C. 20001

Expect fresh viewpoints and robust evidence to inform future policy-making. We cordially invite the press to this important conference aimed to change our national discourse on education rights and meritocracy.
