Tyco Fire & Security Names Dean Seavers President of SimplexGrinnell BOCA RATON, Fla., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dean Seavers has been named President of SimplexGrinnell, a business unit of Tyco Fire & Security and the North American leader in fire systems and services. In his new role, Seavers will be responsible for defining the strategy, goals and objectives that will drive growth and profitability at SimplexGrinnell. He succeeds Michael Buchanan, who retires this month after a distinguished career spanning 36 years. Seavers will be based in the worldwide headquarters building for Tyco Fire & Security, which is located in Boca Raton, Florida. He will lead a team of more than 12,000 employees dedicated to providing world-class fire detection and alarm, fire sprinkler, fire suppression, and integrated systems and services. Seavers was promoted to the position of president from sister business unit ADT North America, where he most recently served as Vice President for the West Region. Seavers was also instrumental in the launch of Six Sigma, a process improvement program. He was responsible for pilot testing Six Sigma in the Southeast Region, which generated considerable savings. Before joining Tyco, Seavers served as Director of Operation Planning for Burger King Corporation and as Regional Manager for PepsiCo. He was also a founding partner of a company that provided subcontracting services to major telephony corporations. Seavers graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in business from Kent State University in Ohio and earned a master's degree in business administration from Stanford University in California.
