BHP Billiton (BHP.AU) said Tuesday that it won't go ahead with its Haju trial coal mine project in Indonesia.

In a statement, BHP Billiton said Haju, which was stage one of its Maruwai Coal Project development in central Kalimantan, didn't fit with its long-term investment strategy.

"Further evaluation of the company's interests in the Maruwai Coal Project is underway to determine the best future commercial options," BHP Billiton said.
