Tyco International Names New Corporate Ombudsman

PEMBROKE, Bermuda, Nov. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tyco
International Ltd. (NYSE:TYC)(BSX:TYC) has named Noriko Ellen
Okamoto as ombudsman, effective January 1, 2006. Okamoto will
report to the audit committee of the Tyco board of directors. She
succeeds Rick Baran, who has taken the position of chief financial
officer for Earth Tech -- a business unit of Tyco's Engineered
Products & Services division. As a key component of Tyco's
ongoing effort to improve its transparency and corporate governance
practices, the corporate ombudsman is an impartial dispute
resolution professional who provides independent confidential
assistance to Tyco employees. In addition, the office handles
concerns offered by Tyco customers, suppliers, and shareholders, as

Okamoto was assistant general counsel at Tyco Electronics, where
she was responsible for supporting Tyco Telecommunications'
undersea fiber optic network supply business and Tyco Electronics
Power Systems micro-power group. She joined Tyco from AT&T,
where she served as an attorney in its western region office and as
a senior attorney in its International Law Group. Prior to that,
Okamoto was an associate with Donovan Leisure Newton & Irvine
in Los Angeles, California. Okamoto earned her law degree at the
University of California, Los Angeles School of Law and her
