Judge Rules Florida Parimutuels Can Install Slots BILOXI, Miss., June 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Broward County, Florida Circuit Judge Leroy Moe ruled today that the county's four parimutuels can install slot machines as of July 1. The ruling paves the way for Isle of Capri Casinos, Inc. to install slot machines at its Pompano Park Harness Racetrack. "The people of Broward County approved slots at the racetracks and Amendment 4 stipulated that the state legislature establish gaming rules by July 1; however, the legislature convened without enacting legislation. This ruling upholds the vote of the people allowing tracks in Broward County to move forward," according to Tim Hinkley, president and COO. Isle of Capri Casinos, Inc. will continue to work closely with local and state officials to ensure that all necessary approvals and requirements are strictly followed and adhered to prior to opening any slot machines at Pompano Park. The state can appeal Moe's decision. Isle of Capri Casinos, Inc., a leading developer and owner of gaming and entertainment facilities, operates 15 casinos in 13 locations.
