                               Board Appointment

Venture Production plc ("Venture" or "the Company") today announces the
appointment of Rod Begbie to the Board as an Executive Director of the Company.
He will take up the new role of Corporate Development Director with immediate
effect.

Mr Begbie, 41, joined Venture in August 2002 as Corporate Development Manager.
He started his career with PA Consulting Group in 1988 before moving on to a
group corporate strategy role at Royal Bank of Scotland Group between 1992 and
1995. He then spent six years in the private equity industry before completing
an MBA at INSEAD immediately prior to joining Venture.

There are no disclosures required under 9.6.13 of the Listing Rules of the
Financial Services Authority in connection with Mr Begbie's appointment as an
Executive Director.
