                          Exploration Drilling Update


Venture Production plc ("Venture"), the Aberdeen headquartered UK independent
oil and gas production company, today announces that the Ash exploration well
drilled into block 16/12a has failed to encounter hydrocarbons.

The well commenced drilling from the Tiffany platform in block 16/17 on 7
December 2006 and reached total depth of 19,300 feet on 25 April 2007. The well
bore may be suitable for partial reuse to provide water injection support to the
South Sycamore field and so the well has been suspended pending further review.
