Venture Production plc (the "Company")

Purchase of Own Equity Shares

Venture Production plc announces that on 29 January 2007 it purchased 207,093
ordinary shares of 0.4 pence each at a maximum price of 723.5 pence each and a
minimum price of 715.5 pence per share. The shares so purchased will be held as
treasury shares.

Following this transaction the Company holds 3,550,596 ordinary shares in
treasury and has 129,945,697 ordinary shares in issue, excluding treasury
shares.
