Purchase of Own Equity Shares

Venture Production plc announces that on 23 January 2007 it purchased 1,395,746
ordinary shares of 0.4 pence each at a price of 725 pence each. The shares so
purchased will be held as treasury shares.

Following this transaction the Company holds 3,050,596 ordinary shares in
treasury and has 130,445,697 ordinary shares in issue, excluding treasury
shares.
