Purchase of Own Equity Shares

Venture Production plc announces that on 19th January 2007 it purchased 277,504
ordinary shares of 0.4 pence each. The maximum price paid was 723.5 pence and
the minimum price paid was 698.5 pence. The shares so purchased will be held as
treasury shares.

Following this transaction the Company holds 1,667,350 ordinary shares in
treasury and has 131,828,943 ordinary shares in issue, excluding treasury
shares.
