Purchase of Own Equity Shares

Venture Production plc announces that on 9th June 2006 it purchased 20,780
ordinary shares of 0.4 pence each. The maximum price paid was 650 pence and the
minimum price paid was 649 pence. The shares so purchased will be held as
treasury shares.

Following this transaction the Company holds 1,220,780 ordinary shares in
treasury and has 123,225,513 ordinary shares in issue, excluding treasury
shares.
