("Digital Barriers")
SingTel VSaaS Agreement
The Board of Digital Barriers plc(AIM: DGB)(the "Board"), the
specialist provider of advanced surveillance technologies to the
security and defence sectors, is pleased to announce that SingTel
Group has selected Digital Barriers'class-leading TVI technology as
the delivery platform for its new Video Surveillance as a Service
("VSaaS") offering.
SingTel Group will launch the VSaaS offering in Singapore in
April, as part of the Group's Machine to Machine ("M2M") range of
services, with the potential to expand to other territories beyond
that. SingTel selected TVI in order to provide its customers with a
higher-quality cellular video surveillance service than competing
technologies. TVI also provides SingTel with the ability to
centrally manage and optimise the network capacity dedicated to the
service in real time.
SingTel is Asia's leading communications group with operations
and investments around the world. With significant operations in
Singapore and Australia (through wholly-owned subsidiary SingTel
Optus), the Group provides a comprehensive portfolio of services
that include voice and data solutions over fixed, wireless and
Internet platforms, as well as infocomm technology and pay TV. The
Group has a presence in Asia and Africa with 473 million mobile
customers in 26countries. SingTel will resell Digital Barriers' TVI
hardware and software under the new service, which will be offered
to the Group's customers as either a three or five year
subscription. In addition to hardware and software sales, Digital
Barriers will receive an annuity license payment for each
individual TVI connection.
Zak Doffman, Group Development Director of Digital Barriers
commented:
"This is particularly exciting for Digital Barriers, opening up
an entirely new market for our TVI video surveillance technology
and bringing not only leveraged product sales but also annuity
revenue streams through the SingTel service. TVI has now proven
itself around the world as a unique and disruptive technology,
delivering usable surveillance video across restricted or narrow
bandwidths, and providing network partners such as SingTel with
unique control over transmission bandwidths and usage. The M2M
market represents a significant international opportunity for
Digital Barriers. In addition to the potential to extend our
relationship with SingTel to its other territories, we will also
look to other network and telecoms partners around the world who
can deploy M2M and VSaaS offerings based on TVI's unique and
highly-differentiated characteristics."
