Board Announcement

Thistle Hotels Plc today announced that Robert Peel has
decided to step down as Chief Executive with immediate
effect.  He will remain on the Board of Thistle Hotels
until the end of February 1998, following completion of
this financial year, to pursue other interests.  Mr
Rodney Price, Chairman, is leading a nomination
committee which will interview candidates to succeed
Robert Peel.  In the meantime Mr Price will act as
Executive Chairman.

Mr Peel, 50, joined the Board in November 1976 and was
appointed Chief Executive the following year.  He has
worked in the hotel industry for over 30 years.

Mr Rodney Price said:

"Robert has been a driving force in Thistle's expansion
and consolidation as a leading UK hotel company.  We
wish him every success in the future.

"Trading in the current half year is in line with the
expectations indicated in our interim announcement."
