RESIGNATION OF DIRECTOR

Tepnel Life Sciences PLC announces the resignation of Dr Anthony Martin as a
non-executive Director and Deputy Chairman.

Dr Martin was appointed a Director in late 1994 and Chairman in 1995. During his
tenure of the Chair, he was instrumental in the solution of vital research and
development issues and pivotal in the development of the Company's strategy.
Following the successful rights issue in April 1996, Dr Martin, having accepted
an appointment as Chairman and Chief Executive of the Microbics Corporation, a
United States company now called Azur Environmental, gave up the Chair but
remained a non-executive Director of the Company.

He now wishes to devote more time to this and other business interests and
accordingly, and with regret, has tendered his resignation to the Board of
Directors.

The Directors wish to express their thanks for Dr Martin's invaluable
contribution to the development of the Company and to wish him success in his
new ventures.
