                TEPNEL PLACING OF NEW ORDINARY SHARES TO RAISE
                                 #2.3 MILLION

Tepnel  Life Sciences PLC ("Tepnel" or the "Company") announces that 2,090,909
new  ordinary shares of 1 pence each in the share capital of the Company ("the
Placing  Shares")  have been placed at a price of #1.10  per  share  to  raise
#2,300,000.   The Placing Shares represent 4.2 per cent of the existing  share
capital of the Company.

The   placing   proceeds  provide  flexibility  in  the  Company's   financial
arrangements during ongoing negotiations with potential corporate partners, as
well  as  additional  working capital as the Company continues  its  focus  of
commercialising enabling technologies for DNA analysis.

As  a result of the placing with Rock Nominees Limited, they now own 4,390,909
ordinary  shares  of 1 pence each, representing 8.5 per cent of  the  enlarged
share capital of the Company.  The Placing Shares will rank pari passu in  all
respects with the existing ordinary shares in the Company.

Application has been made to the London Stock Exchange for the Placing  Shares
to  be admitted to the Official List.  The placing is conditional, inter alia,
upon such admission becoming effective, which is expected to occur on 23 March
2000.

The  Company's strategy remains focused on the commercialisation  of  enabling
DNA  technologies,  primarily  for  use in  life  science  research,  clinical
diagnostics  and  food  testing and the development of automated  systems  for
these  processes.  In support of this strategy, the Company is  expanding  its
revenue   generating  operations  both  organically  and  through  synergistic
acquisitions.
