John Swan & Sons plc today received notification from Fyshe Horton Finney Ltd.
dated 16 April 2003 that following the purchase of 30,144 ordinary shares of 25p
on 14 April 2003, David J. Barry holds 51,776 ordinary shares in the Company,
representing 8.46% of the issued share capital. The shares are registered in the
name of Value Investments Limited.

John Swan have also received notification today from Easter Moncreiffe dated 26
April 2003 that following the purchase of 30,143 ordinary shares in John Swan,
Peregrine Moncreiffe is interested in 37,145 ordinary shares of 25p each,
representing 6.069% of the issued share capital of the Company.
