         Appointment of Finance Director Designate

ScS  Upholstery plc, the fully listed upholstered furniture
retailer,  is  pleased to announce the appointment  to  the
board  of  Mr Howard A D Beere (Sacha) as finance  director
designate,  with effect from today. In order  to  ensure  a
seamless handover, it is intended that Sacha will take over
as  finance  director  and  company  secretary  from  Irvin
Bamford  on 1 June 1999 with Irvin, as previously announced
in  December  1998,  continuing  as  a  Director  until  31
December 1999.

Sacha  Beere (aged 33) is a Chartered Accountant and joined
ScS  in  1996  from  Thornton  Brothers  Group,  commercial
vehicle livery specialists and manufacturers, where he  was
Financial  Controller.  In his time   with  ScS  Sacha  has
successfully  managed  the Finance  function  and  assisted
Irvin Bamford in the flotation of ScS in December 1997.

us  for  three years and has proved himself a  first  class
