                     BOARD APPOINTMENT

ScS Upholstery plc, the fully listed furniture retailer, is
pleased  to announce the appointment of Mr David Knight  as
Managing Director with immediate effect.

Mr Knight, aged 41, joined ScS as a general manager in 1987
after  eight years with Wade Furnishing.  After progressing
to become the branch manager of ScS's flagship store, Metro
2,  located  at  the  Metro Centre  in  Gateshead,  he  was
appointed national sales manager in 1995 before joining the
Board in 1997 as Merchandise Director.

Commenting  on  the  appointment  Mr  Mike  Browne,   Chief
Executive said "David has always made a strong contribution
to  our  success  and  I  look forward  to  him  playing  a
significant role in the Group's on-going development."
