10p Ordinary Shares ("Shares")

We write to advise you that we, Schroder Investment Management Limited, have an
interest in 49,120,410 shares which are held in portfolios managed by us on a
discretionary basis for clients under investment management agreements. 

Included in this figure are:

(i)  26,378,078 shares registered or to be registered in the name of our
wholly-owned subsidiary nominee company, Schroder Nominees Limited (Schroder
Nominees),

(ii)  9,672,569 shares held in (a) unit trust(s) operated and managed by another
wholly-owned subsidiary, Schroder Unit Trusts Limited (SUTL), and registered or
to be registered in the name of Popeshead Nominees Limited (Popeshead), and

(iii)  13,069,763 shares neither registered nor to be registered in the name of
Schroder Nominees or Popeshead.  The registration details are shown on schedule
A. 

An affiliated company, Schroder Capital management International Inc (SCMI Inc)
is managing (a) portfolio(s) on a discretionary basis holding a further
1,581,000 shares.  The registration details are shown on schedule B. 

We believe that we and our subsidiary and affiliated companies are therefore
interested in an overall aggregate of 50,701,410 shares, representing some
16.517% of the total number of shares in issue, namely 306,967,100 shares. 

This notification is made to you:

(a) in respect of our interest as investment managers and also by virtue of the
fact that we are the parent company of SCMI Ltd and SUTL, 

(b) on behalf of SCMI Inc, SCMI Ltd and SUTL in relation to the interests they
are treated as having respectively under the Companies Act 1985 (the Act), and

(c) on behalf of Schroders plc, our holding company, which is treated as having
an interest in all of the above shares under the Act by virtue of its ownership
of SCMI Inc and ourselves. 

We shall be grateful if you will kindly let us have a copy of your notification
to the Stock Exchange and if you will also confirm the total number of shares
currently in issue.

In addition please let us know whether your company or any of its subsidiaries
is either:

(i) authorised by any of the Financial Services Act 1986 (FSA) regulators,
namely IMRO, PIA or SFA, or by any regulator in the European Union outside the
United Kingdom, or
