SDL Appoints Grant Johnson as Chief Marketing Officer
Maidenhead, U.K. - Apr. 23, 2013 - SDL (LSE: SDL) has today
announced the appointment of Grant Johnson as Chief Marketing
Officer of SDL. Grant joins SDL from Pegasystems where he served as
CMO for 3.5 years. Pegasystems is a $460 million market leader in
Business Process Management (BPM) and a leading provider of
Customer Service and Marketing Automation software. Grant is a high
tech marketing executive with a proven track record building
profitable businesses on a global basis, from early stage ventures
to established billion dollar enterprises.
Prior to Pegasystems, Grant was Vice President of Marketing and
served as an officer for FileNet. Before that, he was Vice
President of Marketing for FrontBridge, a SaaS-based email
management vendor acquired by Microsoft. He also served as Director
of Marketing for Symantec, with worldwide responsibility for the
Norton brand.
"Delivering relevant customer experiences efficiently is a
critical differentiator for companies competing on a global stage,"
said Mark Lancaster, CEO and founder of SDL. "Appointing Grant is
an important step for SDL. We have leading technology in social
media management, marketing analytics, content management,
targeting and multimedia management, but we have historically
under-invested in marketing. Grant has a proven track record and
will be an important cornerstone in the SDL team. He will help us
maximize the marketing and sales investments we have already
started to make in 2013 and will help us improve our execution
going forward. He will ensure our customers receive the information
they need to leverage the depth of integrated technology we have
available to them."
Grant Johnson commented: "We are in the customer-driven era and
the old way of selling and marketing no longer works. The
pervasiveness of social media and the proliferation of content have
empowered the consumer, mandating that successful companies
understand customer intent and sentiment, and analyse this
information to optimize every customer interaction. To do so
effectively requires a broad portfolio of customer experience
management technology. Having surveyed the market, I found that SDL
is the only company that offers an integrated suite of technology
to help businesses truly engage with their customer community in
their local language, through the device of their choice, and in
the manner in which they prefer. I am very excited to join SDL and
help drive an increasing leadership position in Customer Experience
Management."
