RMS CUTS PRODUCTION COSTS OF POWERNET

RMS Communications plc ("RMS"), the leading provider of low cost, power line
communication technology, announces that technological developments have
enhanced the performance of its local controllers.  This will also allow
manufacturing cost savings of over 50%.

These local controllers, which form an integral part of the RMS PowerNet power
line communication system, will be produced by Denis Ferranti Limited, the
electrical appliance manufacturers.  Denis Ferranti were the first licensee
for the production of the RMS PowerScan meters and other components for the
PowerNet infrastructure.

Local controllers are a critical part of the PowerNet system which, amongst
other applications, enables electricity companies to minimise their production
of 'spinning load' - excess electricity which is generated but not sold.   The
developments made to the local  controllers have increased their functionality
as well as allow them to be applied to different electricity networks without
requiring technical alterations.
