Central China Goldfields plc ("the Company") has today been notified by City
Equities Limited ("City Equities"), that they purchased 4,370,000 ordinary
shares in the issued share capital of the Company on 28th July 2005,
representing 8.36% of the issued share capital.

City Equities (acting as principal) subsequently sold 1,925,000 of these shares
to certain of their private clients and therefore, as at the close of trading
on 1 August 2005, City Equities held 2,445,000 shares, representing 4.68% of
the issued share capital of the Company.
