EXTENSION OF THE XIANG SHU JIA GOLD ZONE
* Southward continuation of Xiang Shu Jia gold zone by 300 metres
* Discovery of a series of potential gold-bearing structures
* Area mapped, trenches dug and channel samples collected, awaiting assay
results
LONDON - 7 July 2005 - Central China Goldfields plc (AIM: GGG, GGGW) advises
that following the identification of two new gold zones on the Xiang Shu Jia
("XSJ") licence area in the Sichuan Province (see press release of 7 April
2005), the Company has extended the soil sampling survey to cover the majority
of the licence area.
The results of this work have shown that the zone with elevated gold values in
soil on the SE of the licence area continues for at least 300 m southward.
The anomalous values in the extended grid sampling lie between 20 and 50 parts
per billion "ppb" gold against a background value of 5 ppb gold.
The two gold zones identified in the XSJ licence area now cover north-south
trending areas of 200 metres by 800 metres and 200 metres by 300 metres. These
areas are also associated with arsenic and antimony anomalies.
In addition, there is a large area of arsenic-antimony soil anomalism associated
with a minor gold anomaly on the western side of the licence area which the
Company will investigate.
The Company has now completed 423 m of trenching over selected areas of the gold
zones. These trenches have been mapped and 75 channel samples taken. In
addition, detailed geological mapping at 1:10,000 scale has been completed over
these areas.
Follow-up work on the original anomaly in the SE discovered a series of major
structures from 5 - 10 m wide, some carbon-rich, which form crags over 60 m
high. Channel sampling across the base of the crags and trenching on these zones
was recently completed and the samples have been sent to SGS Laboratory in
Tianjin for fire assay.
Chris Ford, CCG's Exploration Manager, comments "The Songpangou and Shui Nu Jia
gold deposits, both of which are part of our licence areas, are located to the
south and southeast of XSJ. These two gold deposits are hosted by brecciated,
pyritic and carbon-rich structures which carry gold associated with arsenic and
antimony anomalies. Parallels have been drawn by the United States Geological
Survey between this style of mineralisation and the Carlin-style in the USA.
Soil sampling in the XSJ and the surrounding areas forms part of our plan to
systematically test the Baima structural trend thought to control the
distribution of gold occurrences and deposits in this area where the potential
for new discoveries is considered to be high."
