First Calgary Petroleums Ltd. announces initial drilling results of

exploration well LES-1 in Algeria

CALGARY, Sept. 8 /CNW/ - First Calgary Petroleums Ltd. (FCP) today

announces initial drilling results from the drilling of LES-1, an exploration

well located on FCP's 100% held Ledjmet Block 405b in Algeria. Wireline

logging of LES-1 indicates the presence of 60 metres of net hydrocarbon pay

over multiple geological intervals. LES-1, drilled to 4,311 metres, is located

15 km southwest (SW) of the MLE Field on a separate geological structure.

Production testing is anticipated to commence in late September as equipment

becomes available.

Richard Anderson, President and CEO stated, "We are extremely pleased

with the LES-1 preliminary results. With this well, we have now moved more

than 20 km from the original MLE discovery well and are continuing to have

excellent drilling results. LES-1 is the most southerly well drilled so far on

Block 405b and was located to evaluate a previously undrilled geological

structure. The wireline logs indicate the presence of high quality sandstone

reservoirs with excellent hydrocarbon saturation."
