    First Calgary Petroleums Ltd. - Changes in significant shareholdings

    CALGARY, Sept. 27 /CNW/ - First Calgary Petroleums Ltd. ("FCP" or the
"Company") announces that Wellington Management Company, LLP ("Wellington")
advised the Company on September 22, 2006 that it has increased its holdings
in the common shares of the Company by 904,600 shares during the period since
April 13, 2006. On September 22, 2006 Wellington held 15,808,500 (7.08%)
common shares of the Company.

    FCP is an oil and gas exploration company actively engaged in
international exploration and development activities in Algeria. The Company's
common shares trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange in Canada (FCP) and on the
AIM market of the London Stock Exchange in the UK (FPL).
