Cambridge Sensor Innovation launches domestic oven sensor system
at IFA Berlin
Cambridge Sensor Innovation (CSI), which develops an innovative
sensor technology, is exhibiting this week at IFA in Berlin, the
world's leading trade show for consumer electronics and home
appliances.
CSI provides sensors and control systems for heat transfer
processes. Its technology can improve fuel efficiency, reduce
greenhouse gas emissions and promote consistent, optimal product
quality. Applications range from large scale industrial ovens and
dryers used in many process industries, to domestic built-in
ovens.
This year's IFA saw the launch of CSI's novel sensor system and
smartphone app which can transform the performance of domestic
ovens, enabling the production of restaurant-quality food in the
home and reducing cooking time. Professional cooking results can be
obtained with the incorporation of the CSI sensor technology in a
domestic oven; from a perfectly caramelised crème brulée to a crisp
thin crust pizza baked in four minutes, compared with typical
cooking times of 12 minutes or more.
Dr. Mark Williamson, CEO of Cambridge Sensor Innovation said "We
are very encouraged by the initial response we have received at IFA
Berlin for the new CSI sensor system for domestic ovens. We are
delighted to be showcasing our system, alongside cutting-edge
global innovators, which can transform the performance of the
humble domestic oven making it possible to reproduce the
performance of professional catering ovens at home."

Notes for Editors
Based in Cambridge UK, Cambridge Sensor Innovation has developed
a range of sensors and control systems for use in heating and
drying processes. Our sensors measure:
-- Pressure differential, for control of exhaust flow rates
-- Rates of convective and radiative heat transfer
-- Process atmospheric water vapour concentration ("humidity")
Our control algorithms use these measurements to optimise
product quality and consistency, whilst simultaneously reducing
fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
