Acquisitions trading ahead of expectations
Deltron Electronics plc, a specialist electromechanical component
distributor and manufacturer, announces that the acquisitions made in
1997 are both trading ahead of initial expectations and the Group as a
whole is trading ahead of budget for the first quarter of the current
financial year.
The integration of Conelec A/S, Denmark and Freber AB, Sweden, which
were acquired in April and October respectively, has gone well and as
a result both are performing ahead of expectations at the time of
acquisition.
During the first three months of 1997/8 the Group, overall, is trading
ahead of budget and order intake is high with the order book at the
end of December 55% ahead of the same period last year. On a like for
like basis the Group order book is 20% ahead of the first quarter last
year.
Christopher Sawyer, Chief Executive, Deltron Electronics plc commented:
"Trading in the first quarter of the financial year has gone well and
underpins our Brokers profit forecast of #3.3 million for the year.
We are particularly pleased with the two recent acquisitions. They
have strengthened our position in Europe and have proved an excellent
fit with our existing operations.
"We are unusual for a distributor in that we manufacture 40% of our
product range with 80% of the range being designed-in and as a result
we usually have an order book of approximately 3 months in length.
This and the spread of sectors we supply gives the Group confidence
for the future. Margins continue to show some improvement and cash
flow remains strong."
