Robert Layton, having completed his contract, is stepping down with immediate effect and leaving the Group to pursue other interests. Keith Wheeler, a highly experienced marketing and commercial professional, has been appointed to the Board with a brief to work with Chairman, John French, on the development and marketing of the Croma brand. The role has been created in response to the Group's growth and increasing areas of activity. Commenting on the changes John French, Chairman, said, "The changing face of the Group is a result of developments in the original core business, Croma Defence Systems Limited and the recent acquisitions. The time is right to put more emphasis on the sales of our current and future operations. Croma Group now has an established and broad range of products which we need to aggressively market to existing and prospective customers worldwide. I am delighted that Keith Wheeler has agreed to help the implementation of this aggressive strategy. Croma Group plc continues to seek complementary acquisition opportunities within the sector." The company was also the subject of a voluntary creditors liquidation with a winding up date of 30 September 1998. The company was eventually dissolved on 21 March 2001.
