Baines Simmons awarded contract for fatigue risk management
services by the Department for Transport's Marine Accident
Investigation Branch
Aviation safety and fatigue risk management (FRM) consultancy
Baines Simmons, part of Air Partner plc, has been awarded a
contract by the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB), a
specialist unit within the UK government's Department for
Transport, following a competitive tender process.
Baines Simmons' specialist FRM team will undertake a technical
evaluation of the MAIB's Fatigue Index Tool, with the aim of
ensuring that it incorporates the most-up-to-date fatigue and sleep
science, and reflects best practice when factoring fatigue into the
investigation process.
Baines Simmons has been selected on account of its reputation
for developing first-class fatigue risk management systems (FRMS).
The team works in close collaboration with organisations to develop
FRMSs that are appropriate and proportional to their level of
fatigue risk, and informed by scientific data. In addition to
building these systems from scratch, Baines Simmons also advises
organisations on their existing fatigue risk management processes
and procedures to ensure optimal performance.
Mark Briffa, CEO of Air Partner, said: "We are very proud of our
specialist fatigue risk management offering and the crucial role we
play in supporting safety-critical sectors to measure, manage and
mitigate fatigue risk within their operations. Our experts have
recently been busy delivering contracts to a range of customers,
particularly around new regulations for COVID-19 compliance, and I
am delighted to see the momentum continue."
Baines Simmons specialises in aviation regulations, compliance,
safety management and fatigue risk management. Its leading fatigue
risk management experts provide training and consulting to assist
various sectors of the aviation industry, as well as other
safety-critical sectors such as oil & gas and mining, to
measure and understand fatigue risk, and to manage that risk
through the implementation of FRMSs.
