Marketwired
Canadian Shield Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE: EXP) ("Canadian
Shield" or the "Company") is pleased to announce exploration
programs for 2010 and report on milestones achieved in 2009.
Keith Laskowski, President of Canadian Shield commented,
"Following a successful December 2009 private placement financing,
we are proceeding with our gold exploration programs. Canadian
Shield will continue to focus on precious metals exploration mainly
in Peru where we have seven gold exploration projects covering more
than 16,000 hectares. We own a regional exploration database which
provides the opportunity to identify new gold discoveries. Our
strategy is to pursue the development of gold resources on our most
advanced projects. Concurrently, we will pursue new gold
discoveries utilizing our database. Canadian Shield will continue
to seek favorable business partners or alliances for its projects.
We are currently evaluating strategic precious metal opportunities
in other prospective areas in Latin America."
Exploration Plans for 2010:
- Exploration: The Colpayoc Project and the Estrella Project are the most
advanced of the seven gold projects. These two projects have been
explored and drilled by Canadian Shield Resources and/or others. The
exploration objectives for 2010 are:
-- Drilling: Colpayoc Property - to commence a drill program to improve and
expand the areas of mineralization and prepare an updated NI 43-101
compliant technical report.
-- Technical Report: Estrella Property - to prepare a technical report; to
perform additional geological studies on the drill cores; and to do
geological modeling for a drilling program.
-- Staff Additions: The technical team in Peru will be expanded to
accommodate the drilling and exploration initiatives.
-- Joint Ventures: The Company will seek alliances for four of its
un-partnered projects.
- RAGE (Regional Andean Gold Exploration): Canadian Shield owns a
sophisticated gold exploration database which was acquired in the
Gallant Minerals Peru Ltda. S.A. acquisition in 2004. The database
contains all of the publicly available data commonly utilized for gold
exploration, but importantly, it also contains a very expansive set of
images, produced from processing of LANDSAT satellite imagery data. The
database also contains an extensive collection of geological reports
that were obtained from private libraries of historic mining companies.
All of this data will be used to identify new areas of potential gold
mineralization, for the purpose of making new gold discoveries.
2009 Milestones:
- Reorganization - Canadian Shield consolidated its shares in March 2009
to attract equity capital to maintain and advance its exploration
projects and to be in a position to pursue new opportunities.
- Improved Balance Sheet - Canadian Shield entered into agreements with
debt holders to issue common shares of Canadian Shield in settlement of
debt. The Company completed three non-brokered private placement
financings over the past six months for gross proceeds of $4,050,000.
- Management & Board Additions - Keith Laskowski was appointed to Canadian
Shield's Board of Directors in June 2009 and President in August 2009.
Mr. Laskowski has over 30 years of experience in precious and base
metals exploration, uranium exploration and mine geology. He has served
as an executive officer and director of three public companies and holds
an MSc in geology from the Colorado School of Mines. Mr. Laskowski is
experienced in all aspects of the exploration business and has
specialized in the marketing of new discoveries.
