GSA Awards $22.5M Army Force Management Task Order to SRA Company
to Develop and Maintain Integrated Force Management System for U.S.
Army FAIRFAX, Va., July 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SRA
International, Inc. (NYSE:SRX), a leading provider of information
technology (IT) services and solutions to federal government
organizations, announced today that it has been awarded a
competitive task order by the General Services Administration (GSA)
Federal Systems Integration and Management Center (FEDSIM). SRA
will develop and maintain an integrated Force Management System for
the U.S. Army. The task order, competitively awarded under the
Millennia contract, has an estimated value of $22.5 million over
five years if all options are exercised. The Headquarters,
Department of Army, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations and Plans
(G-3), Director of Force Management (DFM) is responsible for
developing the organizational structure of personnel and materiel
for the entire Army, and for transforming the Army into highly
modular organizations of mobile and versatile forces. The Program
Executive Office -- Enterprise Information Systems, Project
Office-Force Management System, will manage the contract for the
Army. The transformed Army must be capable of adapting quickly to
many diverse threats to national security. Since 1999, SRA has
provided requirements analysis, business process improvement, and
systems design services for an automated, rules based system to
support the DFM's mission. In 2002, SRA developed and deployed an
interim system -- the Structure and Manpower Allocation System --
that is now operational. Under this new task order, SRA will
integrate four existing systems and implement improved business
processes to create a single Force Management System that will
support collaborative, worldwide, and secure development of the
Army's force structure at each user's desktop. SRA will also
sustain operation of current information systems during the
migration to the new system. Services provided will include program
management, software development, database design and development,
operations and maintenance, systems engineering, and information
assurance. The SRA team includes CACI International Inc.; Richard
S. Carson & Associates, Inc.; and Northrop Grumman Corporation.
"Our goal for the new Force Management System is to dramatically
streamline the Army's Force Management process," said Robert
Burciaga, SRA Vice President and Business Manager for Army
Programs, Defense Sector. "We will do more than merely merge the
legacy systems and implement an integrated database. Beyond system
migration, we want the Force Management System to reflect improved
business processes and powerful automation support that will
greatly reduce the workload required to develop the force structure
and then quickly reconcile the doctrinal force structure to budget
constraints." About SRA International, Inc. SRA is a leading
provider of information technology services and solutions --
including strategic consulting; systems design, development, and
integration; and outsourcing and operations management -- to
