SRA Recognized for Successful PeopleSoft Implementation Supporting
50,000 FAIRFAX, Va., June 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SRA
International, Inc. (NYSE:SRX), a leading provider of technology
and strategic consulting services and solutions to government
organizations, has received a U.S. Coast Guard Meritorious Team
Commendation for its PeopleSoft deployment supporting 50,000 Coast
Guard military retirees and annuitants. The new system went live
April 1, with the first pension and annuity payments issued this
month. The team was made up of Coast Guard civilians and military
members, with SRA as the prime systems integrator. "Faced with
implementing major changes to existing business processes as well
as having to manage the extremely difficult technical integration
challenges of the integration, the team worked diligently to
implement the intricate business process reengineering plan which
would address customer and software developer concerns," commended
Rear Adm. Clifford Pearson, U.S. Coast Guard. "The dedication,
pride and professionalism displayed by the USCG global payroll
development and implementation team reflect great credit upon each
team member, and the U.S. Coast Guard." The replacement system
brings state-of-the-art security, data integrity, workflow, and
internal controls to the Coast Guard, and leverages PeopleSoft's
Pure Internet Architecture (PIA). Calculations in the old system
were prone to error as they were performed manually, and during
testing SRA and the Coast Guard uncovered and remedied thousands of
data errors in the legacy system. In the new global payroll system,
these calculations are automatic and have been extensively tested
for accuracy. Adding to the complexity, laws governing the
administration of military retired pay change annually, and are
usually driven by several key dates and events associated with the
member's career history, and the SRA implementation team ensures
that all current rules were implemented correctly, and laid the
groundwork for future additions and modifications to these rules.
"The Coast Guard is a strategic customer of SRA's, and we are very
committed to their mission," said SRA Civil Sector Senior Vice
President Max Hall. "Integrating critical business systems like
these, with a significant impact in daily business processes, is a
great accomplishment for the entire Coast Guard team." About SRA
